Cap d’Agde, often simply called Cap, is a seaside resort located on the Mediterranean coast of France, near Montpellier. Besides being a regular touristic village, Cap D’Agde is home to a Naturist Village, a place started as a small naturist camping in 1954 and over the years has evolved into a a place unlike any other in the world. Often referred to as the naked city, this village is not just a holiday destination – it’s an entire lifestyle, where nudity is not only accepted but embraced as part of daily life.
Le village naturiste, as the French say, is a self-contained town with a checkpoint to enter. Only if you have a booking in the village or buy a day/weekend/week pass you can pass through the guarded gates. In peak summer season the village is home to thousands of visitors, mostly swinger couples, single male and females, nudists but families are also welcomed. Especially during daytime and on places like the beach or campsite, you’ll have to be aware that children can be walking around. The atmosphere is laid-back and friendly, with an overarching sense of freedom that’s hard to describe until you’ve experienced it.
The village has everything you might expect in a normal town: supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, bars, a gym and shops. What makes it unique is that you can do almost anything naked, from shopping in the supermarket to enjoying a meal at a restaurant or dancing the night away in a club. Clothes, mostly sexy outfits, are optional but especially during daytime you’ll see a lot of people naked. When it comes to accommodation, you’ve got lots of options: hotels, apartments, villas, and the popular René Oltra campsite. The main apartment complexes; Heliopolis, Port Ambonne, and Port Nature are also home to many shops, restaurants and bars located right below the rooms. Some hotels that offer pool or rooftop parties are Jardin du Babylon, Jardin du Eden, Riad5 and Ozz Inn.
The beach stretches along the village and is divided into different sections. The main public area is where you’ll find naturists and families. There are beach clubs like the iconic Paralia and popular newcomer Manna Beach, where you can grab lunch, rent a sun lounger or party in the evening. Further down the coast is the adult section of the beach, jokingly called La Baie des Cochons (Pig Bay). Things tend to get a little wild here, with couples engaging in intimate play on the beach or in the sea, often joined by single men who hang out in the area.
If the beach isn’t your thing or if you’re looking for some variety there are multiple options such as the open air swimming pools at Waiki and Kamasutra.
The latter also has a downstairs swingers playroom but be aware that this can be a bit overwhelming for couples because single men are allowed. One of the standout daytime events in Cap is the foam party at Glamour Beach, also referred to as “the mousse party”. It’s a wild, hedonistic experience, with loud EDM music, a big jacuzzi, champagne, confetti and a dedicated foam cannon area. A mix of sexy dancing and consensual touching in the foam often leads to more sexual activities on the mattresses in this iconic semi open air venue that truly embodies the unique spirit of Cap. There’s nothing quite like this party anywhere else in the world!
When the sun goes down, Cap d’Agde transforms into an even more exciting adult playground. The nightlife in Cap d’Agde is incredibly diverse, offering multiple swinger clubs, bars, and venues that cater to every desire. Whether you’re into house music or singalong classics, there’s something to match your vibe. Themed parties and fetish events are regular highlights, providing a safe and consensual environment for exploring your fantasies. As mentioned Cap operates on its own schedule, much like party destinations such as Ibiza. The clubs, pool parties, shops, and restaurants are open daily, but only during the peak summer season, which runs from mid-June to mid-September.
